Why it comes up

Life insurance and the green card process are more connected than most people realize.

Whether it's a USCIS recommendation, a financial requirement from a joint sponsor, or simply the realization that your family needs protection during a vulnerable transition — life insurance comes up at almost every stage of the marriage-based green card process.

Finding the right coverage as a foreign national isn't straightforward. Most agents don't specialize in this. Connor does — and he works with carriers like Transamerica that have dedicated international underwriting programs built specifically for clients in your situation.

Form I-864

Affidavit of support

The U.S. citizen sponsor takes on a legally binding financial obligation — often lasting until the immigrant becomes a citizen or earns 40 quarters of work (about 10 years). If the sponsor passes away, that protection disappears. Life insurance on the sponsor directly addresses that gap.

CR-1 / CR-2

Conditional green card window

Marriage-based green cards issued before the 2-year mark are conditional. The couple must jointly file to remove conditions. This is a financially vulnerable window for both spouses — life insurance provides stability throughout the process.

Form I-485

Adjustment of status

During adjustment of status, the applicant is physically present in the U.S. — which is required for domestic life insurance applications. This is the right time to get coverage in place, before the case closes.

Nexus

Marriage establishes eligibility

Carriers like Transamerica require foreign national applicants to have a meaningful connection to the U.S. Marriage to a U.S. citizen is one of the strongest qualifying connections — your clients are already in a strong position to apply.

What makes this different

A specialist, not a generalist.

01
Transamerica international underwriting
Connor works with Transamerica's dedicated foreign national program — available to qualified applicants from over 40 countries. With more than 25 years serving foreign nationals, Transamerica has purpose-built solutions for clients in the immigration process.
02
Everything happens in the U.S.
Applications, any required exams, and policy delivery must all be completed in the United States. Since your clients are already here going through the green card process, this requirement is already met — no travel required.
03
Bilingual — English and Spanish
Connor is fluent in both English and Spanish. You can discuss your options, ask every question, and fully understand your policy in the language you're most comfortable with. Nothing gets lost in translation.
04
Licensed in NY, NJ, OH, MI, and SC
Connor holds active licenses across five states covering the largest immigrant communities in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast. Wherever you are in those states, he can work with you directly.
05
This is personal
Connor's wife is an immigrant. He navigated this process from the inside and understands where the gaps are — not just professionally, but personally. This practice was built for families like yours from the beginning.

"My wife is an immigrant. I watched firsthand how life insurance became an unexpected obstacle during her green card process — something we weren't prepared for, at the worst possible time. I became a licensed agent because I wanted to remove that obstacle for other families."
